2-4 Players / Ages 14 and up / 60 minutes
Explore the Waters of Nereus, a fabulous world with wonderful treasures in its vast seas. You lead a capable and talented crew. The captain determines the best direction to sail, the pilot and first mate maneuver the ship through the ocean, the purser controls your funds, the scientist performs important research, the merchant buys your treasures, and the boatswain controls the equipment.
The object of the game is to score the most victory points and there are numerous ways to score them. The primary method is to collect treasures and use the treasures to pay off your crew. When you pay a crew member, you not only score points, but you enhance their ability in future rounds. You can also score points through your scientist, as well as through your merchant.
The game consists of 4 “days”. In each day, a discovery card is flipped, showing where the treasures are to be found. Players then simultaneously choose one of their crew members to use. In turn order, players execute the chosen actions. However, after one players uses a certain power, future players using that same power will get a diminished version. For example, the first player to play the pilot may move the ship 4 spaces, while the second player can move the ship only 2 spaces. Thus, players must choose their crew cards very carefully to get the most out of them. After using 4 crew members on a day, a new day is started and you can then use all your crew members again.
The game mixes turn order actions with simultaneous decision-making, which makes the game move quickly.
